I brought together some experts on euphoria… kava kava, mucuna seed and cocoa and let them do what they do best.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eKava Kava has long been hailed as a beverage of choice for ceremony and known as the “Pacific Elixir”. If you want to find a sense of calm complimented by by a lifted mood, kava kava’s historical use suggests this may just be a great match. I know Kava Kava root very well and wanted not only to use the wonderful Vanuatu Kava, but also compliment its unique flavor. The bitterness can be overwhelming to some so I brought in another plant with some bitter components to compete on the tongue. Cocoa. Not only is the flavor perfect in combination with Kava Kava, but the effects are known to be comforting and lifting. The combination was great, but has been done before. I wanted to add that extra twist we are known for… What did I choose? Mucuna pruriens seed of course. This lovely “velvet bean” has been hailed for over 2000 years in Ayurvedic practice as a restorative nervous system tonic and mood boosting elixir. Modern studies suggest it contains levels of L-dopa, precursors to the mood enhancing dopamine, which could explain part of this Velvet bean’s magic ways. Each component tasted divine mixed, but I wanted just a little more coziness to the cup so I added a pinch of Allspice to tie it all together. Do note, your tongue may get just a little numb while drinking this. Dandelion root, chicory root and schisandra berry are all fantastic liver tonics while beet root and sumac berry are nutritive powerhouses.
