Teaching Herbalism through Herbal Craft

Why did I choose the ingredients that I did? Here goes… I started off with Honeysuckle buds and flowers because of their long standing reputation and help through the ages regarding antiviral, antibacterial, and immune nourishing support. Coming to us from TCM, there is 1000s of years of human case studies of this herb being an incredible ally regarding viruses and bacteria. I then chose Elderberries because I truly do love these little ones that are so gently powerful in helping the body face viral challenges with confidence. I then thought about what “colds and flus” often look like and they tend to go hard on the respiratory system so I wanted to include some well rounded respiratory system tonics. Mullein and Thyme were a must. Mullein soothes while bringing up unwanted congestion and Thyme packs a powerful antibacterial punch. I always include Yarrow in my immune nourishing formulas to assure that we are offering the body needed support if there is a fever or just needs to sweat. It is very important that the lymph system is loved on when we are ill so Calendula was an obvious choice to help clean up cellular debris and nourish tissues. I wanted a powerhouse immune stimulant herb with antibacterial properties so Spilanthes tincture joins in nicely as well. You can really feel the tingle in your mouth from this one. Finally, Ginger and Cayenne help the potency and warmth of this formula while orange adds a nice flavor to assure enjoyment.
