So when do I think of Holy Basil? The better question is when do I not think of this herb! I love Holy Basil for so many reasons. Here are just a few key things I think makes it special. Holy basil is noted as a nootropic herb which means it may help with focus and circulation. It also is an adaptogen which potentially helps to nourish the adrenals and bring balance to the nervous system and body. So you’ve got this amazing plant that could help you focus and give alertness while feeding the adrenals?? Bye Bye caffeine! I’ve also found that if I need to find my calm, it also helps get me there. It kind of just knows how to help me get where you need to go. It doesn’t stop there. It has been noted in much literature and tradition as an immune system balancer which helps bring a healthy immune response in over active (allergies) or underactive immune reactions. It been studied and shown helpful in helping the body to stabilize blood sugar levels. As if that weren’t enough, it is a galactagogue meaning it can possibly help increase breast milk production. This is one of my essential postpartum herbs for sure. Ok… so now do you see why I love this herb so much?
