When do I think of Mullein? For one, when my respiratory system needs some support. This strong standing beauty is a powerful expectorant herb while helping to soothe as a demulcent. Very few herbs are appropriate for a variety of respiratory needs but this one really checks the boxes for a lot of them. I also like it when I am congested and need a little sinus love as well. What I do not like it as is toilet paper. I know folks call this “cowboy toilet paper”, but let me tell you… it is a rubifacient meaning it is very irritating to the skin. So, let me save you the unpleasant experience of trying that one out. Also, when blending tea or working with these leaves, you may want to wear a mask. The tiny hairs can be irritating to the eyes, nose and throat.
