GENMAICHA, High Grade Organic

from $9.00

This classic Japanese green tea is a blend of toasted brown rice and our high grade Sencha green tea (as opposed to many lesser grade gemaichas made with bancha tea leaves).

Both the rice and the tea are certified organic. The rice for this blend is not overly toasted to the point of some of the kernels being pop corn looking so it’s got a smoother toasted taste without any “burned” hints. Since the tea for genmaicha is not roasted it remains fully caffeinated unlike teas such as roasted kukicha where the actual tea is roasted, thus lowering the caffeine levels…

Tasting Notes: Full bodied, full flavored toasted umami goodness.

Origin: Uji, Japan

Preparation: Use 1 full Tb per 16 oz of purified 170º water. Steep 1-2 minutes. Longer steep times will add more bite if that’s what you’re going for (:

As always, experiment with different temperatures and steep times to see what you prefer for each individual tea. Make it perfectly suited to your taste!

Moderately Caffeinated
