SENCHA FUKAMUSHI SPECIAL RESERVE ~ 2024

from $6.00
Sold Out

Most Japanese green teas are steamed, but Fukamushi style green teas are steamed extra long creating an even richer, brothier more savior cup of tea soup almost void of astringency.

This specific tea is an extremely good example of this style, and has been a personal and staff favorite every season since we began working with this particular garden about 6 years ago.

The leaves that create this tea are also shade grown, similarly to the leaves that produce our high quality Gyokuro and Matcha, but for one week as opposed to three, which means this brew has a higher level of Theanine than most senchas, along with a little more sweetness!

Tasting Notes: Very rich, full bodied, expansive savory mouth feel with obvious notes of umami, steamed vegetables and seaweed (without being fishy). About as green as it gets.

Origin: Uji, Kyoto, Japan

Preparation: Use a full Tb per 8-12 oz. of 175º water. Steep 1 minute. Good for three delicious infusions.

{If this method is too rich simply use less tea leaves and steep only 45 seconds}.

Packaging Note: The 3.5 oz option comes in a sealed/resealable airtight package that has never been opened. So it has literally gone straight from the garden to you and will be the absolute freshest. The 2oz and ½ oz option is still wonderfully fresh but will be portioned out from a 3.5 oz package (:
