What you actually want hot cocoa to be.
Purpose: A nutritive and mineral rich hot cocoa you can enjoy and feel good about.
Pick me if: You sometimes have afternoon or evening snack cravings and want something that feels like a treat but is actually beneficial to your health. Can be drank anytime cocoa is what you crave.
Flavor profile: a deep, rich, cocoa, nostalgia
Organic Ingredients: Stinging Nettle leaf, Cocoa husk, ground Cocoa, ground Cardamom seed, ground Nutmeg.
Almost caffeine free. The tiniest amount of caffeine is in the cocoa powder
Understanding the Ingredients: Oftentimes, I found myself craving a beverage or some snack in the afternoons, something cozy and “rewarding”. I tried hot cocoa to curb snacking, but hot cocoa wasn’t ever as good as my memories held. My body wants something more, and I found the perfect way to give my body the sustenance it craves and the sweet treat my inner gremlin wants :) I created- Cozy Nettle Cocoa. A tea that is as deeply nourishing as it is delicious. Its packed with the nutritive powerhouse Stinging Nettle. I then surrounded the Stinging Nettle with 99.5% caffeine free Cocoa Husks so I could have the tea anytime I wanted. Cocoa Husks are basically caffeine free but they do contain a compound called Theobromine, a “feel good” alkaloid. Some find it mood boosting, others stimulating, and others just call it happiness in a cup. Hints of powdered cocoa for depth, cardamom for a brightness and nutmeg for a fabulous finish make this the coziest thing I’ve ever created. Top it with milk and sweetener of choice and this is the cocoa you’ve been craving but haven’t been able to find since you were a kid. Its the way cocoa remained in your memories…. yep… that good. Something this healthy and delicious, I just had to share!
Not your ordinary teabag: Our hand-made teabags are large since they are a full portion to provide you with the intended benefit and desired support. Each one may be re-steeped several times throughout the day. The brewed tea may also be saved in the fridge over night and enjoyed chilled the following day. They are each handcrafted in perfect measurement within a microplastic free teabag and hand stapled with a stainless steel staple. This is slow craft herbalism with care.
{10 pack is 2.5oz and 3 pack is .75oz }
Loose leaf or bagged are both created in very small batches in our woodland teahouse from thoughtfully sourced ingredients and professionally formulated by Leah, owner and clinical herbalist.
HOW TO BREW:
Bagged: Use 1 tea bag per 16 oz of 185 ºF water. Begin drinking when temperature is comfortable but never remove tea bag. Leave plenty of room for milk or cream of choice as well as sweetener if you like. Add more hot water/milk once the cup is finished for a second or third infusion for full benefit.
Loose Leaf: Use 1.5 Tb per 16 oz of 185 ºF water and steep a minimum of 10 minutes. I really enjoy placing loose leaf in a French press, pouring off the tea to drink, and recovering with more water for a full day infusion of full benefit. Enjoy with milk and sweetener of choice.
The longer these herbs steep the better and more potent the herbal infusion will be. Add sweetness if you prefer.
Earth first packaging: Our packaging is intentionally minimal and environmentally conscious. The kraft bags holding our teas are 100% recycled and backyard compostable. Our teabags are compostable, as well as the herbs inside, once the staple is removed. They love to return to the earth. We are constantly seeking ways we can do better and lessen our impact.
