Purpose: A carefully formulated turmeric blend assuring optimal absorption and assimilation of the much cherished turmeric root while being absolutely delicious.
Pick me if: You want more turmeric in your life AND you want to enjoy it!
Flavor profile: Rooted, earthy, slightly sweet, spiced, grounded
Organic Ingredients: Turmeric root, shredded Coconut, Licorice root, Ginger root, Fennel seed, Black pepper, Grains of Paradise
Understanding the Ingredients: Turmeric is that perfect example of when herbs get isolated to a single constituent, they regularly either lose effectiveness, become less safe, or both. Curcumin was isolated to be the 'active' constituent of turmeric root and later it was revealed that it is very poorly absorbed by the body because there are other constituents within the whole root that help the body better absorb it. True and well studied herbalists making whole plant goodness already knew this. The plants are far more complex than one single active constituent. Isolating them also takes away the cushion of other compounds that have made them safe for consumption over the years and concentrating a single constituent is no longer that plant, its a phytopharmaceutical with a multitude of undiscovered side effects. We dont do that. This is a whole plant turmeric blend with added benefits of absorbability through the lipids in coconut pieces. Just like the ancient recipes would suggest. The whole turmeric with the coconut helps make the turmeric more available to the body while ginger helps direct it toward its famous anti inflammatory reputation. The Licorice root fennel, and grains of paradise all help play their role as well but the major role- enjoyment. This blend tastes so dang good and that is hard to do with a strong turmeric tea. But we did it:)
Not your ordinary teabag: Our hand-made teabags are large since they are a full portion to provide you with the intended benefit and desired support. Each one may be re-steeped several times throughout the day. The brewed tea may also be saved in the fridge over night and enjoyed chilled the following day. They are each handcrafted in perfect measurement within a microplastic free teabag and hand stapled with a stainless steel staple. This is slow craft herbalism with care.
{10 pack is 2.5oz and 3 pack is .75oz }
Loose leaf or bagged are both created in very small batches in our woodland teahouse from thoughtfully sourced ingredients and professionally formulated by Leah, owner and clinical herbalist.
HOW TO BREW:
Bagged: Use 1 tea bag per 16 oz of 200 ºF water. Begin drinking when temperature is comfortable but never remove tea bag. Add more hot water once the cup is finished for a second or third infusion for full benefit.
Loose Leaf: Use 1.5 Tb per 16 oz of 200 ºF water and steep a minimum of 15 minutes. Ideally pouring off bits of the tea as the rest continues to steep. I really enjoy placing loose leaf in a French press, pouring off the tea to drink, and recovering with more water for a full day infusion of full benefit.
The longer these herbs steep the better and more potent the herbal infusion will be. Add sweetness if you prefer.
Earth first packaging: Our packaging is intentionally minimal and environmentally conscious. The kraft bags holding our teas are 100% recycled and backyard compostable. Our teabags are compostable, as well as the herbs inside, once the staple is removed. They love to return to the earth. We are constantly seeking ways we can do better and lessen our impact.

Teaching Herbalism Through Tea Craft
I created this blend with the intention to make a delicious turmeric brew that could also be easily absorbed by the body. I also considered the question of “why is someone drinking this?” My best guess is to access some of the well known and abundant benefit of turmeric. Some of the most well known being: liver tonic, anti inflammatory, digestive system tonic, and immune system nourisher. Through that, I added each ingredient with purpose.
TURMERIC ROOT- I added this because, well,… its the major focus in this blend due to it being amazing! Turmeric has been hailed for centuries in the Ayurvedic tradition for a huge variety of benefits such as those mentioned above.
SHREDDED COCONUT- I added coconut since turmeric is best absorbed with a fat carrier (called lipid soluble). I also chose this because it adds such a nice body and flavor to tea.
LICORICE ROOT- I added licorice because of its natural sweetness as well as its immune system benefits complimenting those of turmeric and its soothing properties to the digestive system to also be an additional support.
GINGER- Not only does ginger taste wonderful in here, but it adds a synergistic boost to the digestive and anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric.
FENNEL- Fennel adds such a lovely, sweet and aromatic complexity to this brew but it also enhances the efficacy of turmeric as a digestive tonic.
BLACK PEPPER- The well know “potentiator” herb for turmeric by enhancing absorption.
GRAINS OF PARADISE- An incredible and complex flavor component but also for its added digestive and anti inflammatory benefits being taught to us by West African elder herbalists.
