Purpose: My personal cold and flu care recipe I’ve been making my family for years and am able to do a limited release each year thanks to some of our local growers willing to grow these herbs for us! This herbal blend is not only an amazing antibacterial, antiviral, decongestant, expectorant, immune boosting tea but it also makes an incredible sinus steam to enjoy while you are waiting on your tea to cool enough to drink it!
Pick me if: You want a cold and flu season tea ready to battle any bug. Great to keep on hand for when you need it.
Flavor profile: mint, aromatic, tingly, effective
Organic Ingredients: Echinacea purpurea leaf, Anise hyssop leaf, Bee Balm aerials, Peppermint leaf, Spilanthes flower + leaf, Mullein leaf, Thyme Caffeine free
Understanding the Ingredients: I’m so excited to share this blend with you. A recipe I've made for my family for years using locally grown ingredients and now we can share it with you! ECHINACEA purpurea leaf is an all star immune supporting herb noted to support secretory immune response (macrophage activity) as well as interleukin, interferon, and NK cell production as shown in multiple studies and traditional use. BEE BALM is one of my all time top herbs to battle any bug. It’s antiviral, antibacterial, decongestant and warming. It could basically be the tea all by itself. It’s also my favorite sinus steam to relieve congestion and battle bacterial in the sinuses. So I suggest inhaling the steam of this tea while it is steeping to bring an added benefit to the sinuses. I then added ANISE HYSSOP which is not only delicious, but also a wonderful respiratory tonic herb to tend to the throat, bronchials and lungs, then adding in MULLEIN to really make sure junk gets out and stays out of the lungs. I then added in SPILANTHES because it is an immune system boosting, antibacterial powerhouse. THYME is included as a powerful antibacterial herb with expectorant properties as well as mild antiviral properties. PEPPERMINT not only warms the body as it somehow seems to offer a cooling effect, it also aids with relieving congestion and brings a lovely flavor. Hope it serves your family as well as it does mine. This blend doesn’t miss a nook or cranny for that bug to hide! I give this blend to basically anyone who is ill, even children just in smaller amounts.
Not your ordinary teabag: Our hand-made teabags are large since they are a full portion to provide you with the intended benefit and desired support. Each one may be re-steeped several times throughout the day. The brewed tea may also be saved in the fridge over night and enjoyed chilled the following day. They are each handcrafted in perfect measurement within a microplastic free teabag and hand stapled with a stainless steel staple. This is slow craft herbalism with care.
{10 pack is 2.1oz and 3 pack is .63oz }
Loose leaf or bagged are both created in very small batches in our woodland teahouse from thoughtfully sourced ingredients and professionally formulated by Leah, owner and clinical herbalist.
HOW TO BREW:
Bagged: Use 1 tea bag per 12-16 oz of 190ºF water. Begin drinking when temperature is comfortable but never remove tea bag. Add more hot water once the cup is finished for a second or third infusion for full benefit.
Loose Leaf: Use 1.5 Tb per 12-16 oz of 190ºF water and steep a minimum of 15 minutes. Ideally pouring off bits of the tea as the rest continues to steep. I really enjoy placing loose leaf in a French press, pouring off the tea to drink, and recovering with more water for a full day infusion of full benefit.
The longer these herbs steep the better and more potent the herbal infusion will be. Add sweetness if you prefer.
Note: Breathe in the steam while steeping for extra respiratory support!
Earth first packaging: Our packaging is intentionally minimal and environmentally conscious. The kraft bags holding our teas are 100% recycled and backyard compostable. Our teabags are compostable, as well as the herbs inside, once the staple is removed. They love to return to the earth. We are constantly seeking ways we can do better and lessen our impact.
